Notice: Employment Phishing Scam
By making you aware of this, we hope to avoid, and ultimately prevent, unsuspecting individuals from falling victim to this scam. Examples of such scams include:
- Questionnaire-based employment interviews
- Questionnaire-based decisions to hire
- Requiring payment (or pre-payment) for Visa applications or processing services
- Employment offers over social media, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.
These scams may appear legitimate, so it is important for prospective applicants to research the legitimacy of any recruitment communication to avoid falling victim to such scams. Although counterfeit recruiting communications can be difficult to detect, there are often common indicators to help spot fraudulent correspondence. For example, Altegra Health, Emdeon and affiliated companies will never ask for fees or upfront payments during the recruitment process or as part of an offer of employment, nor will ask for new hires to pay any fees associated with their employment, including Visa applications. Other common indicators:
- Unsolicited communications,
- Misspellings of Altegra Health or Emdeon in domain names or e-mail addresses,
- Non-Emdeon or Altegra Health e-mail addresses (e.g., Outlook.com, gmail.com, or Yahoo.com),
- Offers of employment without physical interviews,
- Requests for payment to apply for a job,
- Requests for financial account details,
- Requests for personally identifying information (Social Security Number, Social Insurance Number, National Insurance Number, passport information, passwords, etc.)
- Requests for payments to be sent to a third-party, and
- Requests for payment for professional or business opportunities.

Meet Some Altegra Health Team Members
Cassandra Palacios, Community Link Manager
As Community Link Manager, Cassandra (Cassy) Palacios leads Altegra Health’s Miami Lakes, Florida-based call center processes designed to help health plan members enroll in community-based programs that save them money and improve their overall health. Having started as a phone agent in 2008, Cassy’s career has expanded at a rapid pace.
Early on, Cassy was tapped to serve as the call center’s first acting Team Lead, which led to her securing the official Team Lead position, followed by a promotion to Supervisor. As the company continued to grow and fuel the demand for additional managers and leaders, Cassy ascended to a newly-created Manager role and is now one of four operations managers at Altegra Health’s Florida headquarters. Altegra Health’s eight regional offices also include call centers in California, Georgia, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico.
Cassy says her career with Altegra Health is challenging and rewarding. “Although I’m less hand’s on with individual members now, I love learning about the business and back end of how we serve members and their health plans,” she says. “We’re all working toward the same goals and building a culture that makes every call beneficial.”
Angela Hacksel-Newmark, Vice President, IT Planning
In her role as one of Altegra Health’s most senior information technology executives, Angela Hacksel-Newmark oversees enterprise-wide strategic planning for the technology team. As Angela explains it, “I work with the organization’s senior leaders to plan the direction of technology, and ensure that what we want to have accomplished from a technology perspective happens.”
Angela’s responsibilities include establishing governance processes to ensure that Altegra Health’s IT objectives are achieved and ensuring that company resources are used appropriately, particularly in the areas of software development, office networks and computers, and infrastructure. “I also support the office of the CIO and act as the ‘right hand’ for budgeting, security, operational process, governance, and more,” she says.
Following her early self-described “grunt” assignments, Angela advanced to a Business Analyst position in 2009, a role requiring detailed knowledge of business processes and IT best practices, as well as the ability to effectively manage simultaneous projects. In 2012, she was promoted to Director, IT Strategic Planning, followed in 2014 by a promotion to Sr. Director, IT Strategic Planning, and in 2015 was promoted to Vice President, IT Planning to better reflect the continued expansion of her responsibilities.
Angela credits Altegra Health with championing her career growth and advancement every step of the way. “The company has been totally supportive, through SCRUM and ITIL® Certification, through two kids, and providing me with the requisite flexibility in my schedule to allow me to earn my MBA in Healthcare Administration,” she says. “Altegra Health is a growing and expanding company that encourages others to excel.”

“I’ve had the pleasure of working at SSC (now the Eligibility & Enrollment Division of Altegra Health) for 11 years. When I first began with the company, I was the only employee in what is known today as the Support Services Department.
